A stormwater plan collects, conveys, and manages runoff from a site. On sand, near a bay, it is the design that decides whether the rest of the project works.
Stormwater design is the creation of a plan to collect, convey, and manage rainwater runoff from an area of land. A sound plan reduces flooding, erosion, and property damage, and it preserves water availability.
To produce it we complete a detailed analysis of the land both before and after the proposed improvements. Our civil engineers delineate drainage basins and prepare basin maps, determine hydrologic parameters such as runoff and time of concentration, determine hydraulic parameters such as pipe sizes and Manning's coefficient, run the simulations required to obtain the design requirements, and produce the input and output reports of the final simulations.
All of the information from the analysis phase is compiled into a Stormwater Management Report. At a minimum the report contains an introduction and methodology, a discussion of existing conditions, a discussion of proposed conditions, the hydrologic and hydraulic modeling discussion, and conclusions.
That report is what supports the detailed construction drawings and the regulatory permit applications that follow.
