It can surface some of them. Infrared reads temperature differences at the surface, which can reveal ungrouted cells and moisture within block walls without opening them.

Where it is used
We have designed a large volume of structural masonry for commercial and residential structures, including bearing walls, shear walls, lintels, and pilasters.
Masonry design is most common on our commercial and residential work.
How we design it
We use computer-based analysis software to simulate the loads that act on each structural member, so a member is sized for what the building will actually do to it.
Grouted cell layout, bar placement, and control joint spacing are the decisions that determine whether a masonry wall cracks on a schedule you chose or one you did not.
Through these projects we produce the drawings, documents, and specifications required to complete the work. Each set includes the plans and details specific to that project, designed to the most current edition of the applicable building codes.
